Warm Air Boiler Repair London - Heating Repair

You may have a warm air heating system installed at your property that operates by passing cool air through a heat exchanger, usually powered by either gas or electricity. When the air is warmed, it is pushed through into rooms via vents in the floor, walls, or ceiling. The installation of warm air systems was very popular if not trendy in the 1970s. Although over the years most have been replaced by water-filled radiators.

However, a huge number still exist. The design of the system denies the need for wall-hung radiators thus making a room more appealing in terms of layout. One of the shortcomings is the lack of flexibility, which means it cannot be extended if the property has been extended. If the system is gas-powered then a boiler is used to warm the air.

The boiler should be regularly serviced (at least every year) to ensure all is safe. Also, as regulations are constantly being amended regarding ventilation it’s good advice to have a complete assessment of your system to see if it is up to standards complies to produce the heat The system if running on gas will have a gas boiler installed satisfying people's heating requirements people still like it.

Heating hot water with warm air heating

Most people who live with warm air heating actually like it. A well-designed system is quiet, warms the house very quickly and with the absence of radiators makes room layout much easier. On the other hand, some people report problems with draughts, dust being wafted around the house and issues with temperature control.

Draughts are caused by incorrect system design or incorrectly set air outlet grills. Dust should be efficiently removed by an air filter (sometimes missing) and inadequate temperature control can be improved by cleaning the filter or having proportional control instead of an on/off room thermostat.

It could be a problem with the boiler itself causing the issue and not its design/layout.

If you are experiencing problems with your warm air unit you have arrived in the right place. There aren’t many qualified tradespeople with a warm air certificate due to the lack of demand. Unfortunately, this leaves households high and dry. Don’t despair, at Serviceteam Ltd we still have qualified warm air engineers who can repair and service your unit 24/7.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is the best option - repair or replacing a warm air heating system?

A: There are many variables to consider here. Probably the best approach is to do a comparison i.e how old is the system, how often is it breaking down, are the cost of repairs mounting, is the repair cost nearing the cost of a replacement boiler? If the answer is yes to all of the above then it may be time to consider upgrading to a more efficient ‘A’ rated boiler. First, engage a professional Gas Safe Engineer to diagnose, advise and recommend the best cost-effective option.

Q: How much does it cost to install a new warm air heating system?

A: Well, It depends on the manufacturer, make and model of the warm air heating system. On average the cost of installation can be anywhere between 3 to 4 thousand pounds.

Q: Is warm air heating system energy efficient?

A: Yes, if we compare it to other heating systems its almost 10-18% more energy efficient.

Q: What’s the best temperature a heating system should operate at?

A: Many factors will determine this i.e., your geographical location, changes in weather conditions, temperatures and of course personal preference. There is no specific rule but a remote property in the highlands of Scotland would have different settings to a terraced house in the south of England. However, a recommended thermostat setting range as advised by the Energy Saving Trust suggest setting it to the lowest possible temperature (comfortable) but say in the region of 18-21 degrees C. Remember, for every temperature increase it will show on your energy bill.

Q: How much time does it take to warm up a property?

A: Well, it depends on the efficiency of your heating system and property size. It takes marginally longer in larger homes with many rooms. As soon as the air is warmed and circulating it should only take minutes for the warm air to exit the vents in each room. Then a while longer for it to reach room temperature as determined by the thermostat setting.

Q: When should a warm air system be serviced ?

A: Warm air heating systems should be serviced annually to keep the system in good working order. During the service the systems air filters should be replaced or thoroughly cleaned to remove dust particulates and prevent them from circulating the property and aggravating people with allergies.

Q: How much time will it take to replace the heating system?

A: Well it depends on the type of heating system, its configuration and alterations needed to bring it up to current standards. As a benchmark, usually 2 days.

Q: Where do I find a warm air heating engineer in my postcode?

A: You can easily find the best warm heating engineer near your postcode via Google. Just enter ‘warm air heating engineers near me’ into the search engine. Then select one that is rated highly on Checkatrade/WHICH or Trustpilot. Alternatively, contact serviceteam Ltd directly on 020 39440243 without delay and arrange an engineer's visit.
