Not renewing a CP42 Gas Certificate is equivalent to breaking the law and the offender risks prosecution under Regulation 35 of the “Duties of Employer and self-employed persons” of the Gas safety (Installation & Application) Regulations.
The CP42 Gas certificate is a legal document that covers all gas appliances in commercial kitchens or catering outlets. This includes interlock systems, extraction systems, CO levels and pipework. The certificate is issued annually by a qualified Gas Safe Registered engineer once every appliance has been tested and deemed to comply with regulations.
It is the responsibility of the business owner to ensure the CP42 Gas Certificate is up-to-date and current.
