    More About Garage Doors

A garage keeps your vehicle protected from all-weather, theft, or vandalism, not to mention the extra storage space. No more scraping the frost from the windows on a freezing cold morning anymore, giving you a head start on the rush hour traffic?

You are in the driving seat, briefcase, pack lunch, laptop, etc all on board. The car responds immediately when the ignition button is pressed, you edge forward, garage door remote in hand. You press the remote to raise the garage doors, ready to accelerate out of the starting gate! But hang on, the remote doesn’t respond, you press again only harder this time, still nothing.

You quickly rub the remote photo-eye up and down your jacket lapel, to clean it. You point again at the receiver and press one more time - still nothing! Now entombed in the garage you reluctantly refer to the ‘fault finding’ section in the handbook.

The handbook gives you a ‘checklist’ of possibilities that will hopefully remedy the problem? You feel deflated, needing to break that golden rule that’s sacrosanct to men: ‘Real Men Don’t Read the Instructions!’ Coming to terms with it, you quickly thumb to the fault-finding section. It gives you a list of possibilities

    • Flat battery in the remote control?
    • Doors locked manually?
    • Misaligned sensor?
    • A blown fuse in the circuit?
    • Lock mode mistakenly activated.
All of the above are easily remedied without calling a tradesperson. However, there are some things that will need a tradesperson, such as:
    • The door spring has broken.
    • Snapped/tangled cable.
    • Something stripped in the gearing.
    • Doors jammed tight.
    • Doors off the runners.

Q: How often should you replace your garage door?

A: On average, garage doors are replaced after 8 to 12 years. Usage will of course be a determining factor. Or if you are among those who maintain them regularly the doors should last for a maximum of 15 years.

Q: Can I replace my garage doors?

A: Of course you can, although for safety, guarantees/warranties/workmanship reasons we recommend you consult and engage a professional service provider for peace of mind as the work can be complex and heavy.

Q: Can I install a new garage door on old tracks?

A: To be honest, No! A new door on an old track is not recommended. Besides, if the track has already been in situ for 10-15 years it’s unlikely to last for another 10-15 years.

Q: What mechanism is best for opening/closing garage doors?

A: Belt-driven doors are better. They run quieter are smooth in operation and are durable making them last longer. However, the product and installation might be governed by your budget, if so, call to discuss your requirements with a team member who will be able to advise.

When on site our engineer will appraise the works required and give an indication of how long the works are expected to take. If we are unable to complete the works within the first visit due to the need for extra time or materials, then we will provide you with a fixed price quotation for the extended works for consideration and authorization before proceeding.
Enquiries can be logged through our website, email, WhatsApp or by calling 020 3538 7067.

You are eligible for a refund if you cancel within 14 days of booking or the job has not been started and is not within the cancellation time frame.

What if I want to cancel the appointment?
We understand that priorities and plans change, and you may need to rearrange/cancel your booking. Should this be the case please let us know as soon as possible so we can make the necessary alterations to our work schedules. If we don’t receive enough notice of your cancellation or appointment rescheduling within the terms outlined below, then there is a possibility you will be charged a cancellation fee.

Cancellation windows
(1.) A charge of £10.00 (ten pounds) will be payable if the service is cancelled within 24 hours. (2.) If the scheduled appointment is cancelled within 12 hours (or less) a 50% charge of the booking fee will be applied (3.) If the appointment is cancelled when engineer arrives at the property (on the doorstep - photos and times will be provided) and within our texted 3-hour time slot the full booking fee will become payable. None of the above charges are profit items and only contribute to the cost of late cancellation/lost business.

Do I need to provide parking?
As you know parking in and around London can be problematic and extremely costly (depending on the area) if a parking space can be reserved for our engineer it would be appreciated and help increase efficiency of the service provided (no feeding meters etc or mobile app updating). The quote we have provided does not include the cost of parking and/or congestion charge which will be added to the final invoice (if applicable). Please inform your personal account manager if any special parking instructions like parking permit/free parking can be provided. For properties on the rim of the congestion zone and it is not possible for our engineer to attend without entering/clipping the charge zone, we may need to add the charge to the final bill ? Please check with your personal account manager in advance of your appointment if you’re not sure?
